An Apology + Fun with Spam

An Apology + Fun with Spam

I’ve mentioned that I don’t really know anything about running a website.  Well, I’m starting to learn.  Today I discovered the spam folder in my comments section.

First, let me apologize to anyone whose comments were dumped in the spam folder and shouldn’t have been.  I now know that it’s there and that it has to be checked.  I will be more conscientious.  Thank you for your patience and your kind words.

Going through the spam was a treat.  I had comments (all of which included glowing reviews of the site and my writing by the way) from advertisers pushing everything from Australian barbecue grills to a Shanghai massage parlor.  There were video game cheat sites, sexual enhancement opportunities, ways to increase site traffic and even one written in Chinese… I think.  Who knew there was so much random joy to be had in spam.  I’m not sure what I wrote to draw some of them, but whatever it was, I’ll try to keep it up.

Here’s the downside: now that I know how much of my traffic is spammers, I have a pretty good idea of how many people are reading my posts; damned few.  But… what the hell.  I’m going to write all of this stuff anyway, I may as well have a place to put it.  I hope you few loyal readers will continue to enjoy the work.  If there’s anything you’d like to see please let me know.  Either leave a comment or email me at jack@constantinconstant.com.  And please, if I’m screwing up anything else,  for heaven’s sake, clue me in… spam folder… so embarrassing.
