The CI Redesigned

The CI Redesigned

The Constant Inconstant has had it’s first redesign… well, rearrangement really.  The furniture is the same, just in different places.  The little essays I write can be found either in the slide show or in the essays tab on the menu bar.  The bits and oddities and Happys and Merrys are now in a section called Keys, Wallet, Glasses, and Phone.  It is just beneath the slide show.  Most of you probably don’t know that I’ve been keeping sort of a shadow journal the last few weeks.  I kept it quiet because I wasn’t sure I could keep up with it, but I’ve come to enjoy doing it, so I’ve put it on the main page.  The journal is called Human Writes (which is what I originally wanted to call this site, but the name was taken) and can be found below KWGP.  I’m calling it a journal because I don’t know what else to call it.  Give it a read, let me know what you think.  Lisa likes it, and she was sure she wouldn’t.  I’m not going to promote the journal entries.  You’ll just have to check in once in a while.  If you are an RSS subscriber, the journal will appear in your feed.

I’ll tell you… I’m not sold on the dated entry format for Human Writes.  It seems a bit lazy, but in the interest of not making journal writing any more difficult, I’m sticking with it for now.  If you hate it, say so… I can probably be convinced to change.  Also, I’m thinking of having Human Writes in the slideshow and moving the essays down to the bottom.  Let me know if you have an opinion.

I’ve been trying to update the site’s theme.  The people who made this theme, which is called Arras, have released a new version, but when I try to install it, all I get is a blank page with a header.  The theme people think it’s the webhost’s problem, and the webhost thinks it’s the theme maker’s problem.  Consequently, the theme will stay as is for a while.  That said, I’m still hoping to fix some of the odd boxes and overlaps that are riddling the page.  My greatest enemy in this fight is my own ignorance, but I am trying.  They didn’t teach HTML in high school in 1986… though I wouldn’t have taken it if they had.  Also, I’m dusting off my old graphic design skills and slowly learning the Adobe creative suite.  When I was a sign maker (did I mention I used to be a sign maker?) I was using Corel products for PC.  Now I’m using Adobe products for Mac… 10 years later.  It’s going to take me a while to get the hang of it, particularly as no one is paying me (or pressuring me) to learn quickly.  My goal is to have a custom header and background by… I don’t know… Valentine’s Day maybe.  That may slide to Easter.  We’ll see.  I have a two year old.  Oh, and no one gives a crap about this site but me, so this is mostly intellectual masturbation.  Beyond that, I’m dedicated to all of your obscure, entirely non-essential website needs.

Now enjoy this.
